CAIR-Chicago, as a member of the Governor’s Racial Profiling Taskforce, has been working with other organizations to end the practice of racial profiling in Illinois. The taskforce is preparing to make several important recommendations to the Governor regarding data collection, methods, and preventative measures for racial profiling. CAIR-Chicago has been named as a member of the oversight board that will be recommended. In addition, we have been actively pushing for the inclusion Middle Eastern as a category in data collection.

The public hearing for this taskforce has been scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Bilandic Center located at 160 N. LaSalle in Chicago from 10 am-12 pm. The community will be given the opportunity to provide feedback on drafted recommendations and are encouraged to attend.

If you plan on attending or need additional information, please contact Governmental Relations Coordinator Sadiya Ahmed at gov.relations@cairchicago.org
