Workshop description: Last year, the House of Representatives passed strict regulations on immigration laws, seeking to criminalize undocumented individuals and those who aid them. It also took away the right to appeal cases of deportation, gave low level law-enforcement agents the ability to enforce immigration laws, and created more strict guidelines on citizenship eligibility. This workshop with explain to the community where immigration reform stands currently. It will also highlight the problematic provisions of the bills that are in the Senate right now as well the benefits the correct type of immigration reform can bring for both undocumented individuals and those seeking paths to citizenship.
