CAIR-Chicago’s Staff Attorney, Heena Musabji, and Employment Discrimination Project Coordinator, Maaria Mozaffar, represented a Muslim man in a private mediation session through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). EEOC mediation is a method of dispute resolution between the complaining employee and the employer. The session was brought as a result of an EEOC charge filed by a Muslim man who experienced discrimination. He requested time off for Eid prayers, and was terminated as a consequence for taking the day off. CAIR-Chicago was able to secure settlement for discriminatory actions taken against him leading to his termination.
