CAIR-Chicago Government Relations Coordinator Sadiya Ahmed, Staff Attorney Heena Musabji and Executive Director Ahmed Rehab and several volunteers held a voter registration drive on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at the Bait-Ul-Ilm in Streamwood, Illinois before and after Maghrib (sunset) prayer.

The voter registration drive was held in an effort to get more residents registered to vote in the November 7, 2006 election. With a little over one month to go, the deadline to register to vote in Illinois is October 7, 2006. CAIR-Chicago has been actively registering people to vote since July 10, 2006 in the Bridgeview community and has registered over 900 people so far.

Constituents of the Bait-Ul-Ilm reside in two of the most hotly contested congressional races in Illinois with Peter Roskam (R) and Tammy Duckworth (D) running for the vacant House seat in the 6th district and the race between Incumbent Melissa Bean (D) fights to keep challenger David McSweeney (R) from taking her seat in the House of Representatives.
