CAIR-Chicago’s Civil Rights Coordinator, along with attorneys Abdullah Salah and Abdul Karim Pigott, participated in the “Lawyer in the Classroom” program. The program is coordinated by the Muslim Bar Association and the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago. The program teaches students about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Abraham, Salah, and Pigott taught students at the Muslim Education Center in Morton Grove about the value in each right guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.

The participating attorneys helped students reach a deeper understanding of the meaning of some important rights. The lesson listed ten rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and asked students to unanimously select only five rights they wanted to preserve, while giving up the other five rights. The lesson helped students realize that each right preserved in the Bill of Rights is integral to a free society.
