Civil Rights Director Represents Muslim Man at Status Hearing on Citizenship Delay Case
CAIR-Chicago Civil Rights Director Christina Abraham attended a status hearing on behalf of a Muslim man experiencing a delay in obtaining citizenship. The man had been waiting for approval of his application after passing the interview and exam in 2004. After CAIR-Chicago filed a complaint in federal court on his behalf, the man’s application was approved. At the status hearing, Abraham dismissed the man’s complain without prejudice pending his taking the oath for citizenship. CAIR-Chicago will continue to aid those who wish to address delays in the citizenship process.
