CAIR-Chicago’s Outreach Coordinator to Present at Wheaton College – Oct. 5th, 2011

CHICAGO, Sep. 29, 2011–Communication’s Outreach Coordinator, Gerald Hankerson, of the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago), will present to a Political Science class at Wheaton College on Wednesday, October 5.

 

WHAT:  Presentation to Religion & American Politics class (PSCI 383)

WHEN: Wednesday, October 5

WHERE: Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL

The course, “Religion and American Politics”, offers an assessment of the role of religion in American politics, focusing especially on the contemporary era and giving particular attention to the role of evangelicals.

Hankerson will discuss how Islam affects his social and political views, civic participation and what it is to be a Muslim American in terms of misconceptions held by different faith communities and general public following the September 11th attacks.
