Worldview, NPR: Ahmed Rehab discusses fate of Egyptian Presidential elections
Egyptian voters anticipate a presidential runoff between Muslim Brotherhood candidate Ahmed Morsi and former head of the air force, Ahmed Shafik. Shafik’s military background, as well as his post as Mubarak’s final prime minister has some voters on edge in light of recent revolutionary efforts.
A Morsi victory would extend the reach of the Muslim Brotherhood’s power, much to the dismay of Egyptian Christian and secularist voters.
Ahmed Rehab, Executive Director of the Chicago Office of the Council on American Islamic Relations, joined Worldview to discuss the election.
