(CHICAGO, IL, 11/9/16) – Less than 24 hours ago Donald J. Trump was announced as the winner of the 2016 United States presidential elections.
With the president-elect having openly called for the “total and complete” ban of Muslims entering this country, a database and possible ID cards of Muslims living in America, heightened surveillance of mosques, various forms of extreme vetting to “prove” patriotism, along with countless comments rooted in xenophobia, racism, misogyny, and white supremacy, CAIR-Chicago and Muslims from across the city express deep concern for their safety and pledge only to work harder and stronger with other allied organizations to stand up to hate and discrimination.
