Hoda Katebi Speaks on Human Rights on the Southside


On April 18 Communications Coordinator Hoda Katebi spoke on a panel hosted by the University of Chicago Pozen Family Center for Human Rights and the Weinberg/Newton Gallery. The panel, titled “Human Rights on the Southside” included Darrell Cannon, Chicago Torture Justice Center; Lili Jimenez, National Lawyers Guild and Director of Policy for Commissioner Jesús “Chuy” Garcia; and Dr. Evan Lyon, Pozen Family Center Board, Chief Integrative Health Officer for the Heartland Alliance for Human Needs and Human Rights. The panel was moderated by Susan Gzesh, Pozen Center Executive Director and Senior Lecturer in the College.

The panel discussion focused on human rights on Chicago’s south side, considering dimensions of public health and safety, criminal justice, Muslim and immigrant communities, and creative expression.
