Not Profiling, but Just as Bad

Response to Daily Herald's "Muslims' interest in exposing terrorists" While the suggestion of Wayne Oras that Muslims help fight terrorism by not allowing “radical extremists to hide among them” (“Muslims’ interest in exposing terrorists,” Fence Post, Aug. 18) seems to be better than using profiling, it still wrongly makes all Muslims responsible for terrorist actions. Why should Muslims make it part of their habit to watch for and report on extremists? Just as average Americans are not affected daily by terrorism, neither are average Muslim Americans thinking about when the next attack will be and how they should be working to prevent it. Muslim Americans know as much about terrorism as other Americans do. Signaling them out to fight against it is as unfair as pulling them out of an airport security line for extra screening.
