CAIR-Chicago Mourns Loss of State Rep. Golar

CAIR-Chicago mourns the passing of Illinois state Rep. Esther Golar. The "selfless advocate" from the Englewood community area passed away last Monday morning, with her funeral scheduled today. Rep. Golar was known for her passionate defense of the disadvantaged and consistently stood for justice in the face of opposition. Her office noted CAIR-Chicago’s advocacy efforts, particularly in support of comprehensive immigration reform.  Rep. Golar expressed her support for our work in this letter of gratitude in 2012:

This month Golar was in Springfield voting on legislation stopping service cuts to the poor, elderly and disabled. She reportedly made the trip while ill and was brought to the Capitol in a wheelchair.
