Citizenship Delay Project
Initiated in April 2005, this project continues to be a vital asset for Muslim Americans experiencing significant delays and challenges in being naturalized as U.S. Citizens. In addition, we provide legal representation and consultations for clients who experience delays in processing of legal permanent resident petitions, and other immigration benefits.
CAIR-Chicago’s awareness project offers 1. Know Your Rights trainings on legal issues related to law enforcement encounters to our mosques, schools and centers free of charge; and 2. Hot Issues Awareness talks at schools and mosques regarding controversial issues in the headlines such as ISIS, and 4. CVE or Countering Violent Extremism initiatives. Lastly our Awareness Project collaborates with mosques, student organizations, and community groups in organizing workshops and training on media activism, diversity and culture of Muslim Americans, and issues facing Muslim American youth.
Our Newest project is a research project that examines the availability and accessibility of information on Islam and Muslims in the public domain by auditing chain bookstores to compare the quantity and quality of books they have on Islam as compared to Judaism or Christianity.
