Citizenship Delay December Recap
December 27, 2006

In the month of December, CAIR-Chicago Staff Attorney Heena Musabji has had 14 status hearings in federal court representing Muslims who have experienced delays in obtaining citizenship. Two of the Muslims were granted citizenship in December, while others were re-interviewed by USCIS, and some are set for trial.

The latest status hearing for the class action lawsuit, filed by CAIR-Chicago, the National Immigrant Justice Center, and Competition Law Groups, took place on December 13.

CAIR-Chicago will continue to represent Muslims who have experienced lengthy delays in obtaining citizenship.
