An aberrant take on Gates-Crowley

In response to Sun-Times article:
“Change the realities of racism first”

I was surprised that the Daily Herald printed the blatantly racist article by Susan Estrich, “The reality of racism.”

In her article, Estrich provides examples at length for why police officers should treat blacks differently than whites in similar situations. In other words, she defends the exact definition of racism! She repeatedly presents the problem of racism as one-sided, as though blacks and Hispanics are completely at fault for the way she perceives them.

This admission of racism cannot be accepted; no one should be judged by their ethnicity or beliefs and we must uphold our great constitutional principle: to presume innocence until proven guilty.
