Muslim Man Harassed and Laid-Off - Attorney Files Employment Discrimination Complaint
August 28, 2008
CAIR-Chicago Staff Attorney Kevin Vodak represented a man at a status hearing for an employment discrimination complaint.
The Muslim man had been harassed by co-workers at his former place of employment for a few years. The man’s supervisors would respond inadequately to the man’s complaints and brush off the harassment as “harmless.” Co-workers made comments to the man such as "go back to your country" and "you look like a terrorist."
Eventually, the man was laid-off from his job.
CAIR-Chicago filed a complaint in federal court on behalf of the man and will continue to represent him in his claims.
