** Media Advisory - For Immediate Release - CAIR-CHICAGO TO RELEASE REPORT ON U.S. MUSLIM CIVIL RIGHTS** Annual study shows jump in complaints about citizenship delays (CHICAGO, IL, 6/18/07) -On Tuesday, June 19, the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago) will hold a news conference to release its 12th annual report, titled "Presumption of Guilt," on the status of Muslim civil rights in the United States. The Washington-based Islamic civil rights and advocacy group's report - the only annual study of its kind - will show a significant increase in complaints related to immigration issues such as citizenship delays. The second-highest percentage of reports came from Illinois, comprising 13% of the total. CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, began documenting anti-Muslim incidents following the 1995 attack on the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Its mission is to promote justice, enhance the understanding of Islam and empower American Muslims. - END -
