** Media Advisory - For Immediate Release & Distribution - Civil Rights Leaders to Speak Out Against Surveillance in Chicago CAIR-Chicago Attorney to Participate in Panel (CHICAGO, IL, 6/06/09)** - Today the Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights (CCDBR) is hosting The State of Surveillance in the Surveillance State: Chicago and the Nation. The event will take place at Northwestern University School of Law from 1-4pm. CAIR-Chicago attorney Kevin Vodak will take part in a panel discussion on Chicago area surveillance issues. Other topics that will be discussed include: racial profiling, fusion centers -where surveillance data is pooled for police, military, and corporate agencies, and responses to the dangers of abusive surveillance. �Governmental surveillance is a critical issue for the Muslim community with the FBI allegedly using agent provocateurs as a counter terrorism initiative,� said Vodak.
