CAIR-Chicago sponsored the eighth session of the Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS) this past Saturday, September 24th. Over 50 youth participants attended and listened to presentations by five local Muslim leaders and professionals. The symposium highlighted topics related to self-identity, media effects, activism and leadership.

The Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium of Chicago (MYLS-Chicago) initiative will host its 8th symposium this Saturday, 9/24 at the CAIR-Chicago office from 9 AM to 7 PM. The theme, “Building Our Legacy: Commit to Activism”, draws on the Muslim American community’s outlook moving beyond a decade riffed with fear and uncertainty, and taking a personal and collective responsibility to be proactive and engaged in our society.

The Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS) in Chicago hosted its sixth annual gathering. Muslim High school students from around the Chicago area came to learn how they can become leaders in their community and what it takes to turn ideas into action.

CAIR-Chicago will host Days of Discovery “Bridge To Islam” by Exploritas on March 25, 2010, providing participants 55 and over with informative and interactive presentations on Islam and Muslims.

The Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS) is a founding member of the Chicago Youth Exchange 2009 Summer Program, which took place this past August 12-13.

CAIR-Chicago, along with the Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS), will join thousands across the country this summer in answering President Barack Obama’s call on all Americans to participate in our nation’s recovery and renewal by serving our communities.

MYLS, a founding partner of the Chicago Youth Exchange (CYE), will send members to participate in the program’s second exchange that will explore identity.

MYLS Coordinator Mokaram Rauf and Outreach Coordinator Gerald Hankerson will present a workshop on Youth Leadership in Civic Engagement and Community Service at Northern Illinois University (NIU) in DeKalb.

CAIR-Chicago and the Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS) will joing a coliation of organizations to serve during the Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) National Day of Service. Many of the organizations are intercultural, interfaith, and youth focused.
