Be Part of this Historical Election

September 24, 2008

Election Day is November 4, 2008: have YOU registered to vote yet?!

Are you over the age of 18 or will be before November 4, 2008? Are you a U.S. citizen? Have you moved recently from another state or changed addresses locally?

If you are an Illinois resident, you only have until Tuesday, October 7, 2008 to register or re-register to vote!

Feature 227 This year’s election is a first for many:

This is the first time since the 1920s where neither an incumbent president nor vice president ran for their party’s nomination.

This is the first election in history where the presidential nominees for the two major parties are currently serving as U.S. Senators.

Either candidate would be the first president born outside the Continental United States. Senator Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and Senator McCain was born at Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone, a US naval base.

Be ready to make a part of history and do your part: register to vote and be a part of the record number of Muslims that will come out on Election Day this year!

How do I register to vote?

1. Complete, sign and mail in a voter registration application to the Cook County Clerk’s office.

What happens on Election Day?

You will receive a voter registration card before the election. If you do not receive one, be sure to take your Illinois driver’s license or identification card with you. You will be asked to present your ID then you will be given a ballot to take with you to a secure booth where you will be able to cast your vote in private.

Questions?

Contact the Cook County Clerk’s office at (312) 603-0906.
