RAMADAN 28th: Can The FBI Harass you over Facebook Posts?

Well, Only If you allow them to.

A Recent VIRAL Video of the FBI visiting the home of an American Muslim woman in Oklahoma has the whole country talking. In it, the agents can be seen questioning the woman over her social media posts supporting Palestine and criticizing Israel, going so far as to admit that "Facebook sent them two screenshots."

See: CAIR denounces "inappropriate" surveillance of a Muslim woman over her pro-Palestine social media posts.

The fact is, the FBI can TRY to harass citizens, but can ONLY succeed if citizens do not know their RIGHTS (fortunately this sister did).

So let's make sure you do...

Let's begin with this: Your political expression on social media, like elsewhere, IS constitutionally protected free speech, and no law enforcement agency can penalize you or even investigate you for it. They can only intimidate (if we let them). Do NOT be intimidated.

  1. If contacted by the FBI, without a judge's warrant, do not let them into your home.

  2. Keep them at the door, step out to the doorway, with the door kept ajar behind you, or speak through the door slightly open.

  3. Demand to talk to them only with a lawyer present.

  4. Do not say anything else or answer any questions.

  5. Take their card and let them know your lawyer will contact them.

  6. Call CAIR-Chicago for free legal representation.
