Multifaith Home is Right Step

Response to Chicago Tribune's "U. of C. Seeks to Give Home to All of its Faiths" University of Chicago’s decision to renovate the basement of Rockefeller Chapel so that all of its faith groups have a place to worship should be applauded nationwide (“U. of C. seeks to give home to all of its faiths,” Aug. 26). The university is doing its part in ensuring that people of all faiths feel comfortable and welcome on its campus. By establishing one location of worship for all the religious groups, it is also guaranteeing an increase in dialogue and understanding. Many colleges across the country already have established multifaith places of worship, and all should take similar steps to promote more interfaith interaction. By using its own renowned chapel to house all faiths, U of C is taking the right steps to show that it respects and upholds all religions.
