Neighborhood Bus Tour

CAIR-Chicago participated in a bus tour, organized by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute from the School of Continuing Studies at Northwestern University. The tour explores Chicago’s Arab Muslim and Christian Communities. Dina Rehab, CAIR-Chicago’s Outreach Coordinator, spoke of CAIR-Chicago’s work and the Arab Muslim Community in Chicago. Dina accompanied the group -- consisting of 40 professionals learning in retirement -- on a day long tour. The group visited the Muslim Women’s Resource Center on Devon Avenue. They had lunch at the Ameer Family Restaurant. The group later met with Imam Jamal at the Mosque Foundation, who spoke to them of Islam and its basic teachings.

The group also visited Universal School and met with Principal Farhat Siddiqui. The tour ended at the St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where Fatimah Baeshen, from the Arab American Action Network, spoke of the Arab community in Chicago and Subdeacon Andrew spoke of the Arab Greek Orthodox community.
