CAIR-Chicago Mobilizes Voters to the Polls

CAIR-Chicago volunteers knocked on close to 150 doors in the third congressional district to encourage registered voters to go to the polls on Tuesday, March 21, 2006. Volunteers, on a very cold Tuesday, walked in neighborhoods in the Bridgeview area, where there is a heavy concentration of Muslim constituents. In the weeks following the Illinois primary election, CAIR-Chicago has been registering people to vote as well as calling registered voters in the area. The CAIR-Chicago “Get Out the Vote Campaign” is a part of a large political mobilization initiative called Project O which aims to organize, mobilize, and empower the Muslim community. For more information on Project O, contact Governmental Relations Coordinator Sadiya Ahmed at gov.relations@cairchicago.org.
