CAIR-Chicago to Receive Delegation of Government & Community Leaders from the Philippines

On June 8th, CAIR-Chicago will receive at its downtown office 13 government officials and community/NGO leaders from the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao in southern Philippines (ARMM). The delegation wishes to explore Muslim American activism and to learn about the issues pertinent to the Muslim American community. "It is important that Muslim Americans have an open channel of communication with Muslim activists from around the world. We have certain areas of expertise to share and a lot to learn from the experience of others," said Dina Rehab, CAIR-Chicago Outreach Coordinator. "Educating each other about the unique concerns and developments in our particular regions offers diverse standards against which we can reassess our own activism. That is particularly true between American and European Muslim activists, but also true between American and African / Asian Muslim activists as well."
