Living the Values of Islam with Dignity for the Self and Respect for the Other

CAIR-Chicago’s Executive Director, Ahmed Rehab, will speak at ICNA’s Dawa’ah Conference, Saturday June 3rd at the Islamic Foundation. Title: Living the Values of Islam with Dignity for the Self and Respect for the Other

Abstract: A true and proper understanding of Islam provides for a beautiful way of life. Faith in God combined with Love (mawada) and Compassion (rahma) for his creation are key Islamic values that heal both the inner turbulence of the soul and the outer turbulence of political unrest and social strife.

The Islamic spirit nurtures education and activism as effective paths towards achieving social harmony and justice. A true and proper understanding of Islam is conducive to intellectual and scientific inquisitiveness; as such it is conducive to civilization

The ideal way to share Islam with others is to live its values; do the good act; speak the beautiful word.

While Muslims are encouraged to share the beauty of Islam with others, we must be very mindful of the right of others to differ with our beliefs and ideals. We must remain tolerant of differences, and respectful of pluralism and diversity.
