Media Advisory: Local Chicago Muslim Reaction to Sears Tower Terror Plot

See Photos (Chicago, IL 6/23/2006) - Today at 1:30, the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago) will hold a press conference to comment on the Sears Tower Terror plot botched by the FBI. CAIR-Chicago will give a local Muslim reaction to the developing story and the unfolding events. In addition to commenting on the current developments, topics addressed will include the role of Muslim-Americans in the war against terror.

“For one, the FBI is to be commended for its vigilance,” said Ahmed Rehab, CAIR-Chicago’s Executive Director. ”For two, the case of this bizarre cultist group is evidence that the phenomenon of terrorism is not monolithic, that it is multifaceted in both the makeup of potential terrorists and the particular context from which they draw inspiration. That is a realization we must not lose sight of in order to efficiently battle the phenomenon of terrorism.”
