CAIR-Chicago Lecture at University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee: Dispelling the Misconceptions

The "Dispelling the Misconceptions" lecture is organized by the Muslim Student Association (MSA) at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee as a venue for informed, constructive discourse and as a counter to the anti-Muslim bigotry and fear mongering of "Walid Shoebat" (pseudonym), invited to speak on campus on December 4, 2007. The event featuring Shoebat is occurring despite safety concerns raised by students, including fears of backlash and hate crimes. Since the announcement of the Shoebat event, the MSA has faced false accusations of seeking censorship and has experienced multiple incidents of harassment.

The MSA at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee is the largest student organization on campus and its leadership has won multiple "Best Student Leader of the Year" awards.
