Federal District Court Approves Muslim Man’s Application for Citizenship After Seven Year Delay

A federal district court approved the application of a Muslim man who had been waiting over seven years for a decision on his naturalization application. CAIR-Chicago represented the man in filing a complaint in district court asking the court to adjudicate the application. The government made several attempts to further delay the process, and finally moved to deny the man’s application. After holding a hearing on the application and asking both parties to provide written closing arguments, the federal district court judge approved the man’s application for citizenship.
