CAIR-Chicago to Attend Congress Hotel Strike Demonstration

CAIR-Chicago will join the strikers of the Congress Hotel and UNITE HERE Local 1 as they continue to demonstrate for social justice and fairness. This will be the 5th anniversary of the strike. The strike dates back to June 2003, when Congress Hotel drafted a seven-year contract with its workers that paid nearly 30 percent less than the industry standards. In 2002 workers received 8.83 dollars per hour compared to 13.90 dollars per hour elsewhere in the city. Although the ongoing strike has made the issue known nationwide and led other businesses to improve their practices with its union workers, the Congress Hotel has not changed its stance.

Come show your support for social justice and equity; support the fight for fair pay and union rights!
