CAIR-Chicago Hosts Summer 2008 Appreciation Day to Honor Interns, Volunteer Activists and Staff

CAIR-Chicago recently hosted its Summer 2008 Appreciation Day, where staff members, interns, and volunteer activists (VAs) spent the afternoon picnicking in Grant Park. The event was organized as a way to show gratitude for the dedication and hard work that all of CAIR-Chicago's activists have demonstrated. The picnic featured Middle Eastern food provided by Petra Café, and allowed everyone to gather one last time before interns and volunteers head back to their designated schools or jobs. CAIR-Chicago staff, interns, and VA’s participated in various games including badminton, Frisbee, and volleyball. Friends and families of the participants also joined in the activities.

CAIR-Chicago take great pride in its VA's and interns, and encourages them to continue their service. Gerald Hankerson, the Outreach Coordinator at CAIR-Chicago emphasizes that their dedication should be recognized. “CAIR-Chicago values the hard work, presence and insight of every intern and volunteer activist. Service is sometimes under appreciated. We should show in some way that their work will never go unnoticed. America is indebted to those who help empower, strengthen, mobilize, unite and engage our communities.”
