CAIR-Chicago Says Goodbye to Reema Ahmad

Government Affairs Coordinator Reema Ahmad is graduating from CAIR-Chicago this month and moving onto her new role as Director of Project Mobilize. Reema first joined CAIR-Chicago in 2009 and immediately hit the ground running, building relationships with public officials and partner organizations. Reema worked tirelessly on immigration reform and mobilizing the Muslim community to become more civically engaged on issues such as workers rights, the 2010 Census, and voter education.

“I have enjoyed my time with CAIR-Chicago tremendously,” emphasized Reema. “Working alongside individuals that are changing the way our society views their Muslim American counterparts as well as advancing the civil rights of not just the Muslim community but all who find themselves in need of representation in the face of injustice is an experience I could not have gained anywhere else.”

“We are saddened by Reema’s departure, but at the same time are incredibly excited about her dynamic work with Project Mobilize,” said Ahmed Rehab, Executive Director of CAIR-Chicago.

Project Mobilize is a political action non-profit organization dedicated to the education, development, and political advancement of the Muslim American community locally, statewide, and across the country. Project Mobilize connects the community directly to the political process by training individuals interested in running for public office. It also hosts politics 101 workshops on the differences in levels of government and how to increase your voice with elected officials. This spring, Project M will run six active members from the various Muslim communities of Chicagoland for local elected offices.

“My work with CAIR-Chicago was a stepping stone in the field of Muslim American advocacy and involvement in the political arena,” continued Reema. “I look forward to actually bridging the disconnect between public officials and their Muslim American constituents through direct political engagement at Project M.”

“I am grateful that Reema’s talent, professionalism, and work ethic will remain at the service of the Chicago Muslim community,” said Rehab.

CAIR-Chicago’s family of board, staff, and interns bid Reema farewell and wish her the very best in her future pursuits.
