Ahmed Rehab to speak at human rights demonstration - Sat. April 28th

CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab will be speaking at Amnesty International's annual Get On The Bus for Human Rights (GOTB) demonstration this Saturday at Federal Plaza. The demonstration will focus on the rights of women in Afghanistan.

The Human Rights of Woman are Non-Negotiable! When the U.S. and NATO entered Afghanistan in 2001, one of the justifications of the mission was to ensure the protection of human rights, including women’s rights. More than ten years later, peace talks between the Taliban, Afghan government and the U.S. jeopardize women’s human rights. The U.S. should make clear that human rights, including women’s rights are non-negotiable and ensure that mechanisms are in place to uphold those rights after any agreement is reached.

The demonstration will follow a panel at the Adler School of Professional Psychology that will focus on human rights issues in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Syria and Sri Lanka.
