In an effort to cultivate civic engagement among the Muslim communities for the 2012 elections, CAIR-Chicago is hosting a NADP Fellow this summer as part of ICIRR's annual NADP Program.  This year's fellow will be based in Naperville, the state's fifth largest city located in the Illinois 11th Congressional District. The New Americans Democracy Project (NADP) is ICIRR's integrated civic engagement and electoral program. It serves as a national model for building immigrant power through non-partisan voter registration and mobilization, combined with community organizing and citizenship promotion.

The NADP Fellowship is a prestigious, intensive field and training program for young community leaders interested in electoral politics and community organizing. Fellows will be chosen to work full-time in immigrant neighborhoods and suburbs to register immigrants to vote and get them to the polls for the 2012 General Election. Each Fellow will be responsible for implementing the agreed upon campaign plan of ICIRR and CAIR-Chicago.

In every election cycle since 2006 CAIR-Chicago and ICIRR have worked to register and mobilize immigrant youth as "Democracy," embed them in immigrant organizations, and mobilize immigrant voters around our "One Nation, One Dream" platform of support for immigrant families. Recently, ICIRR also launched an immigrant candidate training school.

Fellows will work beginning on June 25, 2012 and ending November 9, 2012. The accepted fellow must attend the mandatory immigrant candidate training school in late June. This position is considered a full-time job; therefore, applicants will only be considered if they are not enrolled in school or have other jobs or internships.
