Join us for our 4th Annual "Taste of Ramadan" Iftar on August 7th!

What: “Taste of Ramadan” Iftar and Cook-off

When: Tuesday, August 7th, at sunset (roughly 8pm)

Where: CAIR-Chicago, 28 E. Jackson Blvd., Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60604

The staff and board of CAIR-Chicago would like to invite you to our fourth annual “Taste of Ramadan”, which involves a cook-off and Iftar, at our centrally located downtown office.

Last year, over 300 attendees participated and over 50 different dishes representing cuisines from around the world were served to our guests.

‘Iftar’ is an Arabic term that refers to the evening meal that breaks the daylight fast that Muslims observe during Ramadan. The meal is often organized as a community so that Muslims can celebrate the breaking of their fast together.

Each food dish will be prepared by a CAIR-Chicago staff member for your enjoyment. Everyone attending will then vote on which item they deem the best.

The sun is due to set at approximately 8pm on Tuesday, August 7th.

Everyone is welcome to come to enjoy the diverse range of food from all over the world and the abundant, good-spirited company at this important time of year. All of this without having to spend a cent.

Please RSVP by calling 312-212-1520 or emailing Outreach Coordinator Gerald Hankerson at ghankerson@cair.com.

Also, let us know you're coming by joining our 4th Annual "Taste of Ramadan" Facebook group!

We encourage our guests to participate in our event by contributing a dish or beverage that represents their unique culture and heritage. If you would like to contribute to the Taste of Ramadan iftar, please let us know what you plan to bring and what global cuisine it represents. If possible, please prepare zabiha/halal or vegetarian/vegan dishes.  Also, please indicate all ingredients that may be common food allergens (e.g., dairy, nuts, wheat, soy, egg, shellfish, etc.).  Please be sure that the dish or beverage yields at least 50 servings.
