No Budget. No Service. No Justice.

Join the July 1st Walkout & Rally to tell our elected officials that we will not stand by as the budget gets balanced on the backs of our communities! Given the impending possibility of IL soon operating without a budget, bringing all services to a halt, on Wednesday, July 1, over 500 community members from across Illinois will Walk Out and rally at the Thompson Center to show how communities will be impacted by budget cuts proposed by Governor Bruce Rauner and leaders in the General Assembly Service. Community members are calling on Governor Rauner and legislative leaders from both parties to choose a progressive revenue solution because investment in Illinois children, families, and communities will propel our state towards economic prosperity. Alongside clients and their families, service providers (including members of the Pan-Asian Voter Empowerment [PAVE] Coalition) will also be among those gathering in downtown Chicago to show the urgency behind the state budget. The term “walk out” is being used for this rally to recognize the position of service providers at this point of time on the issue; by their presence at the rally, we hope to effectively show the community impact of these cuts from the service providers’ aspect as well.
