Sufyan Sohel Honored by DePaul University College of Law

On Tuesday, May 3, CAIR-Chicago Deputy Director Sufyan Sohel was awarded the 2017 Young Alumnus Award by DePaul University College of Law. The award recognizes the accomplishments of recent College of Law alumni. Recipients have shown promise in their careers and demonstrate a commitment to the community both in their personal and professional lives.

Sufyan join CAIR-Chicago in 2009 as a law clerk and was asked to join CAIR-Chicago as Deputy Director upon graduation from Law School. He represents CAIR-Chicago on numerous Task Forces and Collectives and works tirelessly in advocating for inclusivity in our communities and combating hating against Muslim communities and other marginalized communities. Sufyan is actively engaged in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the South Asian Bar of North America, is an inaugural member of the DePaul Law Engagement Board, and is an elected Community Representative on the Local School Council for South Loop Elementary, among other advocacy efforts and coalitions.
