CAIR-Chicago Announces Successful Settlement in Racially Motivated Discrimination Case at Islamic School

(CHICAGO, IL, 3/6/2018) – The Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy group, announced today that their client reached a settlement agreement with a private school that discriminated against and mistreated their child because they were black.

The individual, who prefers to remain anonymous, sought support from CAIR-Chicago after their child was severely mistreated due to racial bias when they attended their school. The client requested their tuition be refunded after leaving the school and after intervention from CAIR-Chicago, both parties came to a settlement agreement.

“Thank you for your assistance, we truly believe that without you and CAIR's assistance, this matter would have been swept under the rug,” the client said to CAIR-Chicago and Litigation Director, Phil Robertson.
