Man Experiencing Citizenship Delay Attends Update Interview
July 5, 2007

A Muslim man attended his update interview after a lengthy wait for the results of the required name check on his naturalization application. The man was a named plaintiff on CAIR-Chicago’s class action lawsuit regarding citizenship delays. After he became a named plaintiff, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) expedited the man’s case and his background check was cleared. CAIR-Chicago will continue to represent individuals who have experienced a delay in obtaining citizenship due to backlogs in the name check process.
