CAIR-Chicago Governmental Relations Coordinator Sadiya Ahmed and Governmental Relations Intern John Rush attended a candidates’ forum for the upcoming primary election in the 3rd congressional district on Thursday, March 9 in the southwest suburbs. Candidates such as Philip Jackson running for Bobby Rush’s seat in the 1st district, individuals running for the Chicago Water Reclamation Department, as well as judgeships were present at the event. Furthermore, candidates John Sullivan and John Kelly, both running against incumbent Dan Lipinski for U.S. House of Representatives both addressed the crowd on their positions about issues pertinent to the Muslim and Arab community such as civil rights and liberties, the war on Iraq, and immigration.
