CAIR-Chicago Promotes Active Civic Participation
March 11, 2006

The CAIR-Chicago Governmental Relations Department has been working to organize the Muslim community in the third congressional district by leading several political mobilization efforts.

On Saturday, March 11, CAIR-Chicago, in collaboration with other organizations such as the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, the Southwest Organizing Project, the Polish American Center, and the Instituto Del Progreso Latino held a press conference in the third congressional district to encourage registered voters to vote in the Illinois primary election. Following the press conference, volunteers called registered voters in the third congressional district to remind them about the election.

In addition to the previous phone banking effort, CAIR-Chicago is holding another phone banking session, Thursday, March 16 at the CAIR-Chicago office as well as a door knocking campaign on election day to mobilize the vote.
