CAIR-Chicago Helps With Racial Profiling Legislation
March 6, 2006

CAIR-Chicago Governmental Relations Coordinator Sadiya Ahmed attended a meeting of the Governor’s Racial Profiling Taskforce on Monday March 6 at the J.R. Thompson Center. The taskforce, over the last few months, has developed recommendations to be made to the Governor to eliminate the practice of racial profiling by law enforcement agencies. Among recommendations made by the taskforce is the establishment of an oversight board, which would monitor progress and examine ways to include data collection on people of Middle Eastern decent.

The racial profiling matter has now become a bill and passed in the Illinois Senate last week. It will be read in the House sometime next week and voted on.
