Board Chairman Zarzour to Emcee Zakat Foundation Fundraiser

Feature 330Generous and compassionate people of all faiths and backgrounds are invited to attend Zakat Foundation's first "Solidarity through Generosity" event to raise awareness of its domestic and international relief and development programs. Zakat Foundation fosters charitable giving to those in need through immediate relief and long-term development projects in the United States and in over thirty countries abroad. All proceeds for the night will benefit Zakat Foundation's relief and development work worldwide.

Keynote Speaker: Mr. Ahmed Kathrada is a leader of the South African liberation struggle against Apartheid rule and a close friend of Nelson Mandela. He is one of the famous Rivonia trialists who was imprisoned for 26 years for his political activism. Kathrada was released from prison in 1989. After helping to establish democracy in South Africa, Kathrad held many distinguished offices and was appointed as advisor to President Mandela in 1994.

Host: CAIR-Chicago Board Chairman Safaa Zarzour is a partner in the law firm of Zarzour, Khalil, & Tabbara and serves on a variety of non-profit boards, and is an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. His work has been featured in 60 Minutes, PBS Front Line, Chicago Tribune, Time Magazine and many other media.
