Join Ahmed Rehab to discuss what comes after the Arab Spring - Oct. 30

Join CAIR-Chicago's Executive Director this Tuesday at DePaul University to discuss the Arab Spring and its aftermath. It was almost two years ago that the historic uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East changed the face of the region. A panel with visiting Fellows from Egypt and Morocco in Chicago for CBI's Legislative Fellows Program funded by the U.S. Department of State, along with local experts, will examine the events surrounding the Arab Spring, what has transpired since, and where the region is headed. There will a panel discussion followed by a Q&A session with the audience. WHAT: What is the next season after the Arab Spring?

PANELISTS: Rachid Touhtou, CBI Fellow from Morocco Rachid Touhtou is a university professor at the National School of Statistics and Applied Economics where he teaches and does research on social movements in Morocco. He recently published a book entitled: Civil Society in Morocco: Dynamics of Gender, Development and Social Capital. He also blogs on social movements in Morocco: www.rachidtouhtouh.blogspot.com.

Zeinab Abdelwahab, CBI Fellow from Egypt Ms. Zeinab Abdelwahab, lives in Cairo, Egypt and is an inclusion consultant at Terres de Homes where she works with NGO’s to implement programs and activities aimed at including people with disabilities in their local communities. She is a past volunteer for Save the Children and National Council for Women in Menia.

Ahmed Rehab, Executive Director, CAIR Chicago Ahmed Rehab is Executive Director of the Chicago Office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy group. He also serves as CAIR's National Strategic Communications Director.

Laith Saud, Depaul University /University of Chicago Laith Saud is a lecturer of Islamic World Studies at Depaul University, and a frequent contributor to NPR radio. Laith is a former columnist at al Jazeera, he has been interviewed by national and international media on Islam and Mid-East affairs.

MODERATOR: Scott Hibbard, Depaul University Scott Hibbard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at DePaul University, where he teaches courses on American Foreign Policy, Middle East Politics, and International Relations. He has been at DePaul since 2005, though spent the 2009-2010 academic year teaching at the American University of Cairo as part of a Fulbright Award from the U.S. Department of State.
