Ahmed Rehab Attends "Violent Extremism" Workshop in Turkey

A workshop organized by the Statistical, Economic, and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), which is associated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was pleased to welcome CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab among other experts. The workshop, titled “Violent Extremism”, was held in Turkey’s capital, Ankara, on March 2nd, 2016 and included experts from Arabic and Islamic countries. The event was organized in cooperation with Middle East Center for Strategic Studies (ORASM) and The Center for Political, Economic, and Social Studies (SETA), both of which are prominent think tanks in Turkey.

The workshop reviewed recommendations to be presented to the OIC regarding extremism and how to confront it. It spanned four sessions that examined various topics: identifying the root causes of extremism, legal pathways towards confronting it, the role of social media, families, and youth in this phenomenon, as well as its ramifications.
