Deputy Director Sufyan Sohel speaks to residents of the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center

On Friday, January 26, CAIR-Chicago Deputy Director & Counsel, Sufyan Sohel, participated in the JTDC 4th Series: Tell Your Story “Speed Networking” hosted by Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer.  Sohel spoke, alongside other community leaders, to local youth, aged 10 through 16, who are awaiting adjudication of their cases by the Juvenile Division of the Cook County Courts.  Sohel spoke about his journey in Civil Rights activism and advocacy and building the skills necessary to best serve his various communities. Sohel reflected, “To often our youth are neglected and overlooked.  We have to do more to offer them support, guidance and show them, that despite setbacks or mistakes, there is an opportunity to change, to work hard and fight for something you believe in – whether it be on behalf of your communities or to provide a better life for you and your family”
