Staff Attorney Rabya Khan Back in Nebraska for Depositions on Swift Case

Staff Attorney, Rabya Khan, of CAIR-Chicago was back in Grand Island, Nebraska again last week continuing depositions on the JBS Swift Case. CAIR-Chicago is representing about 50 plaintiff intervenors in an U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) discrimination lawsuit filed against JBS Swift in 2010. Khan will be traveling again next week to Minneapolis for defending our clients in their depositions.

Muslim Group Files Suit on Behalf Somali Workers Fired by Neb. Swift Plant

The Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations yesterday filed a discrimination lawsuit in federal court on behalf of 49 Muslims of Somali heritage who were fired from a meat packing plant in Nebraska. The lawsuit intervenes in a class action filed by the Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in August on behalf of more than 200 Somali factory workers from the Swift Co. plant in Grand Island, Nebraska.

CAIR-Chicago Files IDHR Complaint Alleging Retaliation

CAIR-Chicago has filed a complaint with the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) alleging retaliation against a courthouse employee after the employee participated in an investigation regarding racist comments about Arabs and Muslims made by other courthouse employees.
