CAIR-Chicago Participates in the Chicago Police Superintendent Community Liaison Forum

Yaser Tabbara met with a number of faith-based leaders and members of the Chicago Police department including Chicago Police Superintendent Philip Cline, members of the local FBI office and the US and State Attorney offices. Among the Chicago faith-based community representatives, Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, Chairman of the CIOGC, Imam Gha-Is Aski of Imam WD Mohammed Ministry, Rev. Paul H. Rutgers, Executive Director, Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago and Minister Shiva Singh Khalsa of the Sikh Dharma where all present. A special guest speaker from the London Metropolitan Police presented on the steps that her department have taken to outreach and engage the London Muslim community. During a roundtable discussion, Mr. Tabbara raised the issue of engaging the Chicago Muslim community by initially building trust building mechanisms between the community and their police department, especially in light of a number of cases that have been reported to CAIR-Chicago which deal with issues of police misconduct ranging in severity.
