CAIR-Chicago Files Complaint with IDHR Alleging Religious Discrimination

CAIR-Chicago filed a complaint with the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) alleging religious discrimination for a county employee that was denied time off for the Muslim religious holiday of Eid. When the Muslim woman submitted a request for time off for Eid, she was told by her supervisor to find someone to cover her work on the days she requested off. However, when she notified her supervisor that she had found someone to cover her work while she was off her supervisor still denied her request.

CAIR-Chicago will continue to monitor the situation closely and take whatever legal action necessary to resolve the issue.
