CAIR-Chicago Conducts Sensitivity Training for Faculty of Chicago Public High School

CAIR-Chicago’s Civil Rights Coordinator, Christina Abraham, conducted sensitivity training for the faculty of Foreman High School in Chicago, as well as a session for students confronting the stereotypes about Muslims that became widespread after 9/11. Approximately 100 teachers attended the sensitivity training and nearly 80 students were present for the student session. CAIR-Chicago’s presentation focused on basic Islamic beliefs and practices, including discussion of misconceptions about the concept of Jihad and the religious attire of Muslim women. The session was a proactive effort to address the needs of the growing Muslim student population, as well as give teachers tools with which they could present Islam with more accuracy. Presenting at both sessions was Civil Rights Coordinator, Christina Abraham.
